Adelaide College is a Bible training facility in Saltcoats on the West of Scotland.
Originally built in the 1800’s, it was formerly known as the ‘Glasgow
Mission
Coast
Home’, the building still retains its historical significance today, with
its modern
facilities.
As the Glasgow Mission Coast Home, the building was at first a
Mission Home,
ran by Christian Missionaries, that was used for people from Glasgow to come
to and recover
from illness, often using hydrotherapy. It was originally opened
in 1866 and later greatly enlarged in 1874 and then
again in 1888.
The building later became a convalescent home and eventually became
disused and fell out of repair.
Adelaide College was founded in 1969 by the Founder of the 'Come Back to God' Campaign, the parent organisation of Adelaide College, founded in 1953, by Pastor Dennis Paterson in response to a vision about an establishment where an individual could go to learn about God, based fundamentally on His Word, and specifically how God can work today.
Originally based in England, God later (in 1979) called the ‘Come Back to God’ Campaign to Saltcoats, in Scotland, unaware of its Missionary past. Since then, the College has been running strong and still faithfully serves that original vision today.
More information about the beginnings of the 'Come Back to God' Campaign and Adelaide College, can be found in
the book 'How it all began' written by Founder Pastor Dennis Paterson, the first 3 chapters can be downloaded here.
